Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Explore one of Tanzania’s most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants and big cats. No wonder this ends up being the favorite park in Tanzania for many visitors. Sightings of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras are also almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here – Tarangire is home to one of Tanzania’s healthiest lion populations. While you’ll have to work a little harder to see a cheetah or leopard, it will only enhance your excitement when you do. You can also look forward to classic safari scenery – savannah plains, river woodlands and rocky hills.

Serengeti National Park

Welcome to the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. While you’re here, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll see leopards along the dry riverbanks, cheetahs out on the grasslands, and elephants, giraffes and all kinds of antelopes everywhere across the park. Watch also for the Serengeti’s famous lion prides. And that’s just the start. Some of the largest and most diverse wildlife populations on the planet roam the Serengeti, not to mention millions of wildebeest and zebras who migrate across the plains every year.

You'll be heading down more safari trails in search of animals in Serengeti National Park when we take you on a guided game drive. This is the best thing about many safaris, and you'll hopefully see many animals.

Join us for an unforgettable hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti. You'll take to the skies before dawn and watch spellbound as the Serengeti's savannah grasslands come to life. You'll also lose count of how many animals you see from up there.

At Embalakai Camp you're immersed in the wild Serengeti alongside a river and with savannah views stretching to the horizon. The wood-floored, canvas-walled safari tents are safe and secure, but you can watch and listen to the wildlife as it passes right by your tent. You can also enjoy your meal or a drink under the stars. The location is the ideal Serengeti base as it is deep in wildlife territory but away from the other camps and lodges.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro is a special place and the first time that you descend onto the crater floor is like no other safari experience in Africa. This is a world unto itself, one where you’ll encounter the crater’s 600-strong population of hyenas, as well as critically endangered black rhinos. You’ll also find elephants with larger-than-average tusks, and more than 50 lions living in the crater. But it’s the sheer beauty of Ngorongoro that will most likely live longest in your memory. From early morning, mist rises from the crater, revealing steep, forested walls, secret waterways where hippos wallow, and a world of abundant wildlife hidden away from the rest of the world.

You'll never get tired of going on a walking safari, where you'll leave behind the vehicle and step out into the wild. It can be a little nerve-wracking at first, but you'll be walking with an experienced guide and it's very safe. It can be a real thrill walking in this way, and most people fall in love with the experience.

You'll spend the best part of a day exploring Ngorongoro Crater on your guided game drive. There's always lots of wildlife to see, and this could include lions, hyenas and black rhinos.

Come with us this evening for a walking safari in Ngorongoro Highlands. As soon as you set out with your experienced guide, you'll realize what a special experience this is.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is one of the most underestimated national parks in Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale, at once compact (this is one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Rift Valley escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). You’ll see plenty of baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa. Thanks to the proximity of lake, forest and rock walls, the birdlife will also tease out your inner birder – don’t forget your binoculars.
