Arusha

Welcome to the start of your safari and welcome to Tanzania! You've chosen a fantastic place for your safari journey and we'll get you started with an introductory briefing before we head out to begin the trip you've been dreaming of.

Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern Tanzania and most travelers pass through at some stage. Whether you’re on your way out on safari or here for a little longer, you’ll catch a glimpse of streets filled with energy and color.

Activity Day 1

You will be transferred from the airport in Kilimanjaro Airport.
Transfer time; about 90 minutes
We will meet and greet you at the start of your journey.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

If you’ve never been to Tarangire (and even if you have) you’re in for a real treat. Tarangire is filled with giants – baobab trees all across the park, as well as elephants, lots of them. But that’s just the beginning. Of the big cats, you’ll probably see lions, and cheetahs and leopards are around, too. And it’s impossible to miss the wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes and zebras. Your backdrop for all of this is one of the prettiest in northern Tanzania, with a memorable mix of river woodland, open plains and rolling hills. And some vantage points to take it all in.

Transfer to, Tarangire National Park

Late Morning

You'll be going on a guided game drive to look for Tarangire's lions, elephants, cheetahs and more. It's one of the best places to go looking for animals in northern Tanzania.

Afternoon

Take a break in your day by enjoying lunch with us this in Tarangire National Park.

Late Afternoon till Early Evening

You'll be joining us in Tarangire National Park for a guided game drive. It's a fantastic opportunity to see some of the animals you came so far to see.

You'll appreciate being based at Manyara's Secret for your visit to Tarangire National Park. It's a good place to return to at the end of your safari day.

Central Serengeti National Park

When people dream of the Serengeti, it's probably the Central Serengeti they're dreaming of. That's because you're in the perfect place to see all that the Serengeti has to offer, and this is the area of the park where wildlife is present in the biggest numbers. It's also filled with acacia trees and those Serengeti horizons that seem to go on forever.

Keep an eye out for wildlife this morning as our transfer to the next part of your safari doubles as a game drive.

We'll serve you lunch in Serengeti National Park.

Afternoon till Evening

Join us for a guided game drive through the fabulous wildlife country of the Central Serengeti. It's an experience you'll never forget.

Evening

Relax and generally take it easy to allow yourself to both process and recover from all of the excitement that you’ve enjoyed on your safari so far.

Activities Day 4

Early Morning

Your early morning game drive is a wonderful opportunity for you to see the Serengeti at its best. In the golden morning light, you'll look for animals at the ideal time of day: this is when they're most active and easiest to find and see.

Afternoon

Lunch is always a highlight, so relax and enjoy our food.

Evening

We'll take you on an evening game drive in the Serengeti. You'll love being out and about at this time because it's when animals are most active and easiest to see. Temperatures are also noticeably cooler and the light is lovely and soft.
We'll take you to enjoy the sunset and a sundowner at one of our favorite places in Central Serengeti National Park.

Optional Day 4

Early Morning

Rise above Serengeti National Park in the magical light of early morning in a hot-air balloon. The views are simply incredible, and even elephants look like ants from up here.

Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge

You never quite know what you're going to see from your safari tent here at solar-powered Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge. The beautifully appointed tents sit partly on stilts and on a rise overlooking the seemingly endless savannah of the central Serengeti where the park's wildlife graze and hunt. Relax in the swimming pool and watch for more animals while you eat dinner.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll visit Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural sights in Africa, a place where you’ll experience otherworldly beauty with extraordinary wildlife. Watch as, from above, morning mist rolls up and over the crater rim, and notice how the steep walls suggest a place unlike any other. Down below on the crater floor, explore a lost world preserved in a state of pristine isolation, one that shelters lions and hyenas, elephants and black rhinos, flamingos and golden jackals. There are also forests, hippo-filled lakes, a salt pan and hyena dens, and you’ll never lose the sense that you’ve stumbled into a safari theme park where everything’s wild.

Walking safari, Ngorongoro Highlands

You'll never get tired of going on a walking safari, where you'll leave behind the vehicle and step out into the wild. It can be a little nerve-wracking at first, but you'll be walking with an experienced guide and it's very safe. It can be a real thrill walking in this way, and most people fall in love with the experience.

Morning

This morning we'll be taking you to the next stage of your safari, but you'll also get to enjoy one last game drive along the way.

Your guided game drive down into and around Ngorongoro Crater, is one of the best safari experiences you can have in East Africa. Watch for lions, hyenas, black rhinos and more as you spend most of the day exploring the crater floor.
Relax and generally take it easy to allow yourself to both process and recover from all of the excitement that you’ve enjoyed on your safari so far.

Kitela Lodge

Lodge Class: Luxury

Found in a quiet location close to Karatu but away from the well-traveled road between Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro is Kitela Lodge. It has large, stylish rooms that come in a combination of canvas and thatch, many with views. The rooms have mosquito nets and private bathrooms, and you can relax in the swimming pool and dining area.

Day 6

Lake Manyara National Park

Strung out in the shadow of the Rift Valley escarpment, that great fracture in the earth’s surface that divides Africa in two, Lake Manyara is one of Tanzania’s more unusual parks. Here you’ll certainly see the elephants for which the park is famous, and, if you’re really lucky, one of the park’s equally well-known tree-climbing lions. There’s also a lake filled with wading birds, plenty of olive baboons, and dense forests that make you feel that exciting animals could emerge from the trees at any moment. It’s a wonderful chance to mark the transition between the lower plains and the Crater Highlands (with Ngorongoro Crater) away to the west.

Take a guided game drive around the forests and along the lakeshore of Lake Manyara National Park, and look for elephants and tree-climbing lions, all in the company of an expert guide.
