It's time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we'll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern Tanzania and most travelers pass through at some stage. Whether you’re on your way out on safari or here for a little longer, you’ll catch a glimpse of streets filled with energy and color.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Almost everyone who visits Lake Manyara National Park falls in love with this unique park. Lake Manyara is most famous for being one of the few parks in Africa where its lions climb trees. It's not unusual to look up into the branches of Lake Manyara's forest canopy and find yourself face-to-face with a lion (or even an entire pride). Large populations of elephants and olive baboons are further highlights, while the backdrop to all wildlife sightings here is the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment which rises over the park's western boundary, or pretty Lake Manyara which dominates the east.

Tarangire National Park

You have so much to look forward to in Tarangire. Top of any list are the elephants and the baobab trees, which are such dominant presences throughout the park. Lions are another possible wildlife highlight among many, and it's rarely crowded.

Lake Manyara National Park

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro is a special place and the first time that you descend onto the crater floor is like no other safari experience in Africa. This is a world unto itself, one where you’ll encounter the crater’s 600-strong population of hyenas, as well as critically endangered black rhinos. You’ll also find elephants with larger-than-average tusks, and more than 50 lions living in the crater. But it’s the sheer beauty of Ngorongoro that will most likely live longest in your memory. From early morning, mist rises from the crater, revealing steep, forested walls, secret waterways where hippos wallow, and a world of abundant wildlife hidden away from the rest of the world.

On this morning's guided game drive, we'll take you down into Ngorongoro Crater; the drive down is one of the most thrilling possible approaches for a day of wildlife viewing. You'll be down in the crater for most of the day looking for lions, hyenas, black rhinos and more.

Come with us as we take you to your next destination, but we'll also go looking for wildlife along the way.

It's time for your evening game drive in the Serengeti. It's a fantastic time to be out exploring the park, with cooler temperatures and softer evening or late afternoon light. It's also among the best times of day for seeing animals.

Embalakai Serengeti Camp

Stay in wood-floored safari tents at Embalakai Serengeti Camp, and listen to the wildlife that is present in such numbers in this corner of the central Serengeti. There are very few other camps in the area, which means many more animals than people. The camp is close to the river and otherwise surrounded by savannah, and there's a dining tent.

Day 5

Serengeti National Park

You won’t find many better national parks in Africa than the Serengeti, which has few rivals when it comes to both the numbers and variety of animals. Track down the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy the vast horizons that are perfect for spotting predators (especially lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas) and their prey (buffaloes, impalas and kongoni), as well as elephants and giraffes. If you’re really lucky you’ll see a hunt, one of the most exhilarating sights anywhere in the wild. And at every turn, revel in its beauty, with flat-topped acacia trees silhouetted against the setting sun, and so many other classic African safari images.

Come and get to know the Central Serengeti, one of the best places to see wildlife in Tanzania.

The end of your safari with us

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a Shiri Adventures representative will greet you and arrange your transfer to the hotel included in your package. The hotel offers everything you need for a pleasant stay: comfortable rooms, hot water, attentive staff, a swimming pool, and Internet access.

In the evening, you’ll attend a briefing with our team. During this session, our managers will ensure you’re well-prepared and ready for your upcoming climb.
