This is where all of your planning becomes a reality: your safari starts now. Tanzania is such a wonderful country when it comes to wildlife and beautiful landscapes. After we greet you and answer any questions you might have, we'll take great pleasure in taking you out and showing you what we mean.

Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern Tanzania and most travelers pass through at some stage. Whether you’re on your way out on safari or here for a little longer, you’ll catch a glimpse of streets filled with energy and color.

Staying at Arusha Planet Lodge means sleeping well far from the noise of the downtown area. The rooms are nicely sized with work desks and vivid safari colors offset by muted wood furnishings. Most of the balconies look out on the trees of the hotel grounds. You'll also find a good restaurant and bar onsite.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

If you’ve never been to Tarangire (and even if you have) you’re in for a real treat. Tarangire is filled with giants – baobab trees all across the park, as well as elephants, lots of them. But that’s just the beginning. Of the big cats, you’ll probably see lions, and cheetahs and leopards are around, too. And it’s impossible to miss the wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes and zebras. Your backdrop for all of this is one of the prettiest in northern Tanzania, with a memorable mix of river woodland, open plains and rolling hills. And some vantage points to take it all in.

Transfer by Road, Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Explore fantastic Tarangire on a guided game drive that will take you out among the baobab trees to look for lions, elephants and more.

You'll find it easy to relax at Marera Valley Lodge, down a quiet road near Karatu, on the way between Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. The beautifully kept grounds contain a swimming pool and plenty of vantage points for taking in the panoramic views of the green countryside that sweeps away to the north. The rooms and restaurant are excellent.

Day 3 & 4

Serengeti National Park

Welcome to the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. While you’re here, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll see leopards along the dry riverbanks, cheetahs out on the grasslands, and elephants, giraffes and all kinds of antelopes everywhere across the park. Watch also for the Serengeti’s famous lion prides. And that’s just the start. Some of the largest and most diverse wildlife populations on the planet roam the Serengeti, not to mention millions of wildebeest and zebras who migrate across the plains every year.

Ngorongoro Highlands (Day 3)

Temperatures are lovely and cool in Ngorongoro Highlands, which is perfect for exploring the forests, and seeing the wildlife (elephant, buffalo and maybe even leopard) and views.

Transfer by Road, Marera Valley Lodge to Serengeti National Park
Join us for a walking safari in Ngorongoro Highlands. Stepping out into the African wild on foot is very safe and brings a whole new level of excitement to your safari.
A guided game drive through Serengeti National Park is one of the best safari experiences you can have anywhere in Africa. Apart from the signature savannah grasslands and the park's amazing wildlife, your guide will show you all that's good about the Serengeti.

Activities Day 4

You'll be heading down more safari trails in search of animals in Serengeti National Park when we take you on a guided game drive. This is the best thing about many safaris, and you'll hopefully see many animals.

Afternoon

Share a sundowner with us in Serengeti National Park. It's the perfect way to end your day, a sunset view over a few drinks.

Embalakai Serengeti Camp

Tented camp Class: Luxury

At Embalakai Camp you're immersed in the wild Serengeti alongside a river and with savannah views stretching to the horizon. The wood-floored, canvas-walled safari tents are safe and secure, but you can watch and listen to the wildlife as it passes right by your tent. You can also enjoy your meal or a drink under the stars. The location is the ideal Serengeti base as it is deep in wildlife territory but away from the other camps and lodges.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Your first sight of Ngorongoro Crater is likely not one you’ll easily forget. As seen from the crater rim, this natural bowl, both vast and intimate, is one of Africa’s most beautiful natural features, stretching 19 green kilometers (12 miles) from one side to the other. Down in the crater itself, you’ll explore an astonishingly rich, self-contained ecosystem that is protected by high crater walls. Here, lions and hyenas hunt wildebeest and Grant’s gazelle within sight of elephants and black rhinos. Your day spent here will reveal a surprising variety of habitats, from the Lereal Forest and salty Lake Magadi to the plains that rise and fall gently all across the valley floor.

Activity Day 5

As we drive you to the next part of your safari, you'll be enjoying a game drive at the same time.
On this morning's guided game drive, we'll take you down into Ngorongoro Crater; the drive down is one of the most thrilling possible approaches for a day of wildlife viewing. You'll be down in the crater for most of the day looking for lions, hyenas, black rhinos and more.

Day 6

Lake Manyara National Park

Where the plains of northern Tanzania meet the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a wonderful place to spend a safari day. Your highlights for the day might include getting up-close-and-personal with the elephants that made this park famous, lots of baboons, as well as one of few lion populations in Africa that spend much of their time in the trees. Between the forests at the foot of the escarpment and the lake that gives the park its name, enjoy rich birdlife and the chance of seeing predator ambush their prey.
