  This morning, you'll pause your safari and join us for breakfast in Machame Gate.

Morning till Afternoon

  ​In the morning, your guide and mountain support crew will meet you at your hotel for a briefing before departing by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park's Machame Gate. Upon arrival, you'll complete the necessary registration and obtain climbing permits. The trek then begins through the lush montane rainforest, a region known for frequent tropical showers; therefore, it's advisable to carry a raincoat and spare clothing.​

   

  Health Advisory:

   

  As this marks your initial exposure to higher altitudes, please consider the following recommendations:​

   

  Hydration: Aim to drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily, consumed regularly throughout the day.​

   

  Altitude Sickness Prevention: To mitigate symptoms of altitude sickness, you might consider taking preventive medication. Many climbers opt to take such medication in the morning before starting their ascent. Please consult with your doctor prior to the trip to discuss any potential allergies or health concerns.​

   

  Night time Acclimatization: Be aware that during the night, reduced breathing patterns may lead to lower oxygen intake, potentially causing symptoms like headaches or nausea. Monitor your condition and inform your guide immediately if you experience any signs of altitude sickness.​

  Trekking From Shira Camp To The Lava Tower and Descent To Barranco Camp, Barranco Camp

Activity Day 4

Morning

  This morning we'll serve you breakfast, which is always one of the most enjoyable meals while on safari.

  You’ll start early with a hearty breakfast before hiking the Barranco Wall. To avoid crowds, it’s best to leave the camp as early as possible. The climb up the wall is straightforward and takes about an hour. After the climb, you can rest and take photos in front of Kibo Volcano.

   

  Next, you’ll tackle a more challenging hike to Karanga Camp, with several ascents and descents. Don’t worry—our guides will manage a comfortable pace for the group. After arriving at the camp and having a warm lunch, you’ll complete an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, gaining 200 m / 656 ft in altitude before descending back to Karanga Camp.

  Morning Trek to Barafu Summit Camp
  After enjoying a warm and hearty breakfast, you’ll begin your journey to Barafu Summit Camp (4,673 m / 15,331 ft), the staging ground for your final push to the summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,336 ft).

   

  The route to Barafu is moderate but requires steady pacing to conserve energy for the challenging ascent ahead. The trek covers 6 km and takes approximately 4-5 hours.

   

  Arrival at Barafu Summit Camp
  Upon reaching the camp, your tents and sleeping arrangements will already be prepared by our support team, allowing you to focus on relaxing and conserving your strength. A warm meal will be served, and you’ll be encouraged to spend the remainder of the day resting and sleeping in preparation for the upcoming night summit.

   

  Day Summary

   

  Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
  Distance: 6 km
  This is a crucial day to recharge physically and mentally. Rest well—your journey to the roof of Africa begins tonight!

Activity Day 6

  Night Ascent to Uhuru Peak
  Your summit adventure begins under the starlit sky as you depart from Barafu Camp (4,673 m / 15,327 ft) for the final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,336 ft), the highest point in Africa. The climb is technically straightforward, but the high altitude makes this a physically demanding challenge. To ensure safety, each pair of climbers will be accompanied by a personal guide to monitor their condition closely.

   

  Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views and the incredible sense of achievement that comes with standing at the roof of Africa. If desired and conditions permit, you may visit a nearby glacier before beginning your descent.

   

  Descent to Barafu Camp
  After celebrating your accomplishment, you’ll return to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved two-hour rest.

   

  Continuing to Millenium Camp
  Following your rest, you’ll continue the descent to Millenium Camp (3,950 m / 12,956 ft). The trek down requires focus and care, as 90% of accidents on Kilimanjaro occur during the descent. Be mindful of your footing to avoid injury, particularly to your toes.

  Descent to Mweka Gate
  After breakfast, you’ll begin your descent toward the park's exit, Mweka Gate (1,640 m / 5,379 ft). The trek covers 12 km and takes approximately 4-5 hours, with a gradual descent through the rainforest, offering a peaceful and scenic conclusion to your climb.

   

  Celebration and Departure
  Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you’ll gather with your group for a moment of celebration and congratulations. You’ll have the opportunity to share your experiences and thoughts about the climb in the guestbook. Your journey will be officially recognized with the presentation of your commemorative certificates.

   

  Finally, a transfer will take you back to the hotel, where you can relax and reflect on your incredible adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro.
