Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is one of the most underestimated national parks in Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale, at once compact (this is one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Rift Valley escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). You’ll see plenty of baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa. Thanks to the proximity of lake, forest and rock walls, the birdlife will also tease out your inner birder – don’t forget your binoculars.

Morning

Transfer by Road, Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Take a guided game drive around the forests and along the lakeshore of Lake Manyara National Park, and look for elephants and tree-climbing lions, all in the company of an expert guide.

Set back from the main road between Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park and close to Karatu, Marera Valley Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are large and quiet, there's a swimming pool set amid manicured lawns, and the views of the green Crater Highlands are memorable. The onsite restaurant serves local and international specialties.

Day 2

Serengeti National Park

Welcome to the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. While you’re here, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll see leopards along the dry riverbanks, cheetahs out on the grasslands, and elephants, giraffes and all kinds of antelopes everywhere across the park. Watch also for the Serengeti’s famous lion prides. And that’s just the start. Some of the largest and most diverse wildlife populations on the planet roam the Serengeti, not to mention millions of wildebeest and zebras who migrate across the plains every year.

Ngorongoro Highlands (Day 3)

Temperatures are lovely and cool in Ngorongoro Highlands, which is perfect for exploring the forests, and seeing the wildlife (elephant, buffalo and maybe even leopard) and views.

Activity Day 2

Transfer by Road, Kudu Lodge to Serengeti National Park
Join us for a walking safari in Ngorongoro Highlands. Stepping out into the African wild on foot is very safe and brings a whole new level of excitement to your safari.
A guided game drive through Serengeti National Park is one of the best safari experiences you can have anywhere in Africa. Apart from the signature savannah grasslands and the park's amazing wildlife, your guide will show you all that's good about the Serengeti.

Embalakai Serengeti Camp

Tented camp

At Embalakai Camp you're immersed in the wild Serengeti alongside a river and with savannah views stretching to the horizon. The wood-floored, canvas-walled safari tents are safe and secure, but you can watch and listen to the wildlife as it passes right by your tent. You can also enjoy your meal or a drink under the stars. The location is the ideal Serengeti base as it is deep in wildlife territory but away from the other camps and lodges.

Day 3

You’ll get to know the Serengeti and its colorful cast of characters even better with another day immersed in its wild beauty.

Morning

This morning you get to go on a guided game drive which is always a safari highlight. It's an especially good way to explore Serengeti National Park and get to know the wildlife and the animals that you might see.

Our transfer game drive means that you can look at wildlife even as we take you to your next destination.

Pakulala Safari Camp will be your base for exploring Serengeti National Park with us, and it's a terrific place to stay.

Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater

Your first sight of Ngorongoro Crater is likely not one you’ll easily forget. As seen from the crater rim, this natural bowl, both vast and intimate, is one of Africa’s most beautiful natural features, stretching 19 green kilometers (12 miles) from one side to the other. Down in the crater itself, you’ll explore an astonishingly rich, self-contained ecosystem that is protected by high crater walls. Here, lions and hyenas hunt wildebeest and Grant’s gazelle within sight of elephants and black rhinos. Your day spent here will reveal a surprising variety of habitats, from the Lereal Forest and salty Lake Magadi to the plains that rise and fall gently all across the valley floor.

Your safari in Tanzania will come to an end, bringing to a close your time in this remarkable country. We're sure that you have had the most wonderful time.

Activity Day 4

As we drive you to the next part of your safari, you'll be enjoying a game drive at the same time.
On this morning's guided game drive, we'll take you down into Ngorongoro Crater; the drive down is one of the most thrilling possible approaches for a day of wildlife viewing. You'll be down in the crater for most of the day looking for lions, hyenas, black rhinos and more.
